Project Overview

Holocreators needed a specialized e-commerce platform to sell 3D scanning services. The challenge was that 3D scanning is a complex product; clients often don't know which resolution or technology they need. I developed a bilingual shop (English & German) that runs on a separate WordPress installation from their main site. The core of the solution is a custom 'Decision Tree' configurator that guides users through a series of technical questions to recommend the perfect scanning product.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was simplifying the purchasing process for a highly technical service. Customers were often unsure if they needed 'Standard Resolution' or 'High Resolution' scans. Additionally, the shop needed to handle complex tax rules (19% VAT for Germany, 0% for others) and region-specific shipping costs automatically.

The Solution

I built a custom JavaScript-based 'Product Configurator' that acts as a wizard, asking the user simple questions about their object's size and material. Based on the answers, it redirects them to the exact product they need. I also implemented a dual-language system using WPML architecture and custom PHP logic to handle the VAT and shipping calculations dynamically based on the customer's billing address.
